Arghand Inc.














Arghand was launched in 2005 by Journalist Sarah Chayes, whose experience in southern Afghanistan inspired her to strike at the chains of poverty and violence that bind the region to the opium poppy. Arghand is creating a market for other crops like almonds, apricots and pistachios, which it uses in high-end skin-care products for export-providing farmers with an alternate source of income.

Finally, a real American making a valuable contribution to a region torn by war and foreign invaders who have upheld a variety of corrupt regimes...we need more Argand type alternatives in Afghanistan to give the people there some hope...in so doing we may save America in the process...
